Little Common, Bexhill-on-Sea – 2nd February 2026 – A new independent café built on family values, community spirit and a lifelong dream is opening its doors today in Little Common.

Little Coffee is the passion project of husband-and-wife team Charlie and Paul Rendle, who have left long careers to open a welcoming specialty coffee shop at the heart of the neighbourhood — supported every step of the way by their wider family, including Nanna, Grandma, and a close circle of local friends built over years of community life.

Parents to three children — Lyle (15), Eliott (12) and Nuli (4) — Charlie and Paul first dreamt up Little Coffee during the daily school run to Little Common Primary, often wishing there was somewhere nearby to grab a great coffee before or after drop-off.

“Little Coffee is something our whole family has been part of,” says Charlie. “From grandparents lending a hand to friends cheering us on, it’s been built with love, support and a real sense of togetherness.”

Charlie brings more than 15 years of experience running a small, word-of-mouth baking business alongside her 20-year career at Hastings Council, while Paul spent two decades working as an estate agent in Bexhill. After years of saving and planning, the couple made the bold decision to quit their jobs and go all in on their shared dream.

The café serves expertly made espresso drinks — including lattes, cappuccinos and flat whites — alongside specialty coffee beans sourced from Brazil, Colombia, Peru and Ethiopia. Fresh cakes, pastries and baked goods will be available daily, with babyccinos ensuring Little Coffee is truly family-friendly.

Much of the café’s renovation has been completed by Charlie and Paul themselves along with friends in local trades, together they have transformed the space by hand — from tiling and painting, to floor stripping and installing a new kitchen where Charlie will expand the cake baking side of her business, creating bespoke cakes for the local community.

For its first month, Little Coffee will open 7am–4pm, seven days a week, as the family settles into the rhythm of the local area.

Designed as a warm, inclusive space for all ages, Little Coffee aims to become a much-loved part of Little Common — built by family, backed by community, and brewed with love.

Little Coffee opens today at 28 Cooden Sea Road, Little Common, Bexhill-on-Sea.
